Task 4 - Evaluation of my student magazine

One thing I think I did well whilst creating my student magazine was that I was able to take clear images that related directly to my magazine and what was going to be inside it. Also, I think I was able to edit my images well. I think that my colours were also consistent and they related to what should be on a student magazine. Also I think I was able to use Photoshop to its full potential in order to create a suitable cover for my student magazine. Also, although I found InDesign, more of a difficult software to use because it does not have as many features and editing options like Photoshop does, I think I was able to use it properly in order to create my contents page.

Also, according to my audience feedback, I was told that my layout was very good and also the colours that I used were vibrant and eye-catching. I was told that the cover stories and contents page articles are relatable to people reading the college magazine and people within the college. I was also told that the images I used were good and relatable to my magazine.

However, some things I think that I can improve were that I think the image on my magazine cover was not relatable enough to the magazine and what the magazine was about. I think I could have used a clearer image, and also an image that would allow me to add more cover stories and make the magazine cover look fuller. Another thing I could have improved was the software In Design, I could have been more familiar with it in order to edit and create my contents page to make it look the best that it could.

One thing that I was told I could have improved by peers was that I could have made the cover stories bold so that they stood out more and became more appealing to the readers. Another thing was that the cover was quite simple and may not have attracted many readers. A criticism on my contents page was that I could have included a logo and website link to the page and also I was told that some of the page numbers were too close to my image.

One key point of development that I will improve on when creating my music magazine is that I will make sure to make my Masthead stand out and also make my magazine look more professional looking overall. I could also make sure that my colours stand out in order to do this. A second key point of development is to make sure my images look very professional and are suitable for my music magazine and the genre of my magazine. A last key point of development for my music magazine is to make sure that my magazine looks full enough and does not look to overcrowded or sparse.
