Task 9 - DPS Construction

This is my interview for the article on the double page spread of my magazine:

INTERVIEW
So Misha, you’re a new star but in such little time you’ve become a massive music icon! How does it feel to have so many fans, and so many people that look up to you?

Well it’s overwhelming really, when I started doing music I never went in with the thought of getting ‘big’ or having loads of fans, I just wanted to spread my music really and be happy with it. Now I’ll go into a shop or something like everything’s normal and then a bunch of people will come to me and say “you’re Misha aren't you?” and I’ll say “yeah who are you?” and I don’t realise that I’ve got so many more admirers now, so many people that know me who I will never know. I'm incredibly flattered but it’s just weird I guess to go from nobody to somebody.

So has it sunk in yet?

No, not at all! I still think I'm dreaming to be honest, it just doesn't feel real. It hasn't fully registered in my brain that so many people know me now and look up to me. Although, it’s lovely to know that so many people enjoy my music now and it’s not just me in my tiny bedroom thinking “is this good enough?” because I know my music’s good enough because so many people tell me it is. So it hasn't sunk in and I don’t think it ever will, it’s just surreal.

When did you realise you were musical and that you wanted to make music your career?

Well, many things really. My whole family’s musical so I kind of grew up with that type of background. My mum used to be a gospel singer and my dad was just an angel on the guitar, so I had all of that inspiration around me so naturally I became a very musical person, I loved to sing and play the piano and the guitar. I was also in the church choir growing up and everyone would always tell me what a great singer I was so then I kind of thought “hey maybe I can do this” so I just went with it and I’m so glad that I did.

So tell me a little bit about how you were founded as an artist? How did you get this big?

Well, I started uploading covers to Youtube when I was about 14. More and more people started watching them, especially when I started rapping and one day I was approached by Will.I.AM and he thought I was really good. He said that he thought I had potential and it just went from there really. He signed me up to a record deal, I released my first ever single and that was it.

Was there any artist that inspired you to make music and to do what you’re doing now?

Yeah, well Will.I.AM obviously, when he found me it sort of inspired me to do better and to get where I am right now. Also, I think artists like Rihanna and BeyoncĂ© were also a massive inspiration to me because I loved them growing up. I would dance around in my best dress and my mum’s makeup and pretend I was them and sing all their songs. So to be here now and to have actually met them, it’s just a dream come true.

Your first single ‘Black’ has already reached number 1 in just a few weeks of it being released! So congratulations on that but how does that feel?

It feels amazing! This has been my dream since I was a little girl and now to finally be here with so many people enjoying my music, it’s just great! I couldn't have wished for anything better.

Also, tell me a little bit about your new album. What inspired you to write the songs?

Well my new album’s called Misha, after me obviously, they’re just songs of my life really. They’re from certain life experiences, and struggles that we all have to go through. I just thought they’re very relatable aren’t they? And it also helps people to find out a bit more about my life and the personal issues that I’ve had to deal with.

So what have you got planned for the future? Any big tours lined up?

Yes Definitely! I’ll be doing a tour all over the world starting off in the UK and Europe and going into America as well. I’m super excited I just can’t wait to show people my music and to finally be able to perform live to all the amazing people that have been supporting me and buying my music. I just can’t believe I’m finally here, doing what I love.
