Using Illustrator

Today we were taught how to use illustrator in order to create a suitable masthead for my music magazine.
This is what I created whilst experimenting with using illustrator for the first time:

I found illustrator fairly easy and simple to understand however, it may be more difficult trying to find different features and ways to design my masthead as there are loads of different effects and features to choose from. The ones I have used above is that I made the outline thicker using the pt tool and also filled the image in blue. For the title, I did the same with the outline and added a gradient for the middle. I also flipped the S to add more of an effect.

After experimenting, I then started to create my actual masthead for my Magazine. This is what I have come up with so far. However, this is subject to change:

  1. Tasnim you have mostly kept up to date with the required tasks, you do need to post more regularly with progress and classwork (as above with illustrator - could also be more detailed in terms of tools used and how you found the programme etc.)

You have added a second case study, this is a little vague in terms of images, language style and colours used. It is also rather descriptive instead of analytical (remember: what you see and why). You haven't added a second media kit or worked on the first case study, but have some useful detail across both.

The newsstand task is very brief and you should cover other methods of distribution, your pitch had some useful detail and you have evaluated the feedback. Now you need to act on it! Add some images of Billboard magazine and annotate useful elements, work on mastheads and layout and link closer to your case studies - also be more specific with target audience. Perhaps create a profile for a typical reader. Contact sheet - so images from shoots should be here next.

Finally your blog needs a side bar or clearer headings for each post.
